Pieces for the Flute, a collection of six works by six contemporary Iranian composers: Saman Samadi, Hoshyar Khayyam, Negin Zomorodi, Nastaran Yazdani, Aydin Samimi Mofakham, and Mehrdad Pakbaz. Recorded and produced in collaboration with Mahoor Institute, this album showcases six solo flute pieces that explore a diverse range of modern and Iranian musical elements. The project began in the winter of 2020, and the album, along with its accompanying scores, was released in the fall of 2021. One of the featured compositions, *Dancer Shadows* by Negin Zomorodi, is a solo alto flute piece that captures a dialogue between hope and despair within an Eastern musical atmosphere. The arrangement of melodic intervals evokes a soundscape closely tied to Iranian music, while the layering of textures and shifting rhythmic patterns add depth and contrast. The composition refrains from contemporary extended techniques, instead focusing on dynamic contrasts and rhythmic articulations to create an expressive, introspective work. Inspired by solitude and human connection, *Dancer Shadows* portrays individuals conversing with their shadows in the quiet of night. As the pain and longing unfold, the moving shapes come to life—culminating in a melancholic yet cathartic dance.
