Dream of Desertion is a landmark chamber music album featuring two string quartets by emerging Iranian composers who, after completing their academic training in Iran, have taken significant steps toward presenting their works professionally. The decision to write for string quartet—a form historically known for its structural and expressive complexity—reflects both composers’ deep understanding of the medium and their commitment to serious musical exploration.
The album features a five-movement string quartet performed by the Arvand Quartet, comprising:
– Violin I: Amir Bavarchi
– Violin II: Negar Afazel
– Viola: Babak Koohestani
– Cello: Aydin Ahmadinejad
University lecturer Kiavash Sahebnasagh, in the album’s introduction, writes:
“The current generation of young composers who are stepping into the field of artistic and serious music are facing many difficulties. The choice of string quartet as their first published work underlines both their courage and their awareness of the challenges involved in composing for this demanding ensemble.”
Your piece, included in this collection, stands as part of a larger artistic movement that gives voice to the creative potential of a new generation of Iranian composers navigating a contemporary global context while rooted in their own cultural and musical heritage.
