Composed by Negin Zomorodi, Atom is written for xylophone, glockenspiel, vibraphone, and two flutes. The piece delicately balances resonance, texture, and rhythm to create a miniature sonic landscape that invites close, immersive listening. It is performed by flutist Mehrdad Gholami and was recorded at Kargadan Studio. Its inclusion in Ear 5 highlights the album’s aim to showcase fresh, experimental voices in the evolving field of Iranian contemporary music.

Ear 5 is part of the Gosh Album series—an experimental and contemporary sound project that curates a diverse collection of works by Iranian composers. Rather than focusing on a single style or aesthetic, this volume brings together contrasting sonic textures, everyday sounds, and unique musical expressions to create an audible exhibition of artistic feeling. The pieces are chosen not for their conformity, but for the way they challenge and complement one another, allowing the listener to explore a range of contemporary musical voices and their expressive functions.
